JUNIOR ACCOUNTANT

Job Title:             Junior Insolvency Accountant – Specialist Insolvency Firm

Location:             Sydney CBD

Pay Grade:         $35,000 – $42,000 (Depending on experience & qualifications)

Job Description:

The role entails management of the general ledgers and bank accounts for both corporate and personal insolvency matters administered by the firm, as well as the preparation of statutory reporting for compliance with both insolvency regulators and the ATO.  In addition, it is likely the position will comprise a support role for senior staff through the preparation and issuance of notices to key stakeholders. This role will be a dedicated bookkeeping position, but will have the potential for career progression and as such is suitable for a diligent and confident applicant with a thirst to learn and prove themselves in a competitive environment.  A demonstrated ability to understand, comprehend and comply with complex and detailed instructions is essential. The successful candidate will be working under direct supervision of supervisors and managers of the firm, but will be expected to be able to be self-motivated and maintain a high attention to detail.

Main Tasks:

  • Monitor and reconcile bank accounts maintained by the firm.
  • Recording of receipts and payments on the general ledgers for matter maintained by the firm as well as for general/trust accounts operated by the firm.
  • Preparation of statutory summaries of receipts and payments in accordance with statutory guidelines.
  • Preparation of BAS for all matters as required
  • Other related tasks as directed by senior staff, including dealing with creditors and other key stake holders on administrative matters.

Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate for the role will be a diligent, independent worker with a keen attention to detail and perfect English communication skills, both oral and written. An understanding of general bookkeeping and appropriate experience dealing with electronic accounting packages is essential.  Undergraduate qualifications are not required but candidates who have commenced either university or vocational studies in accounting will be looked on favourably.  Some previous experience with bookkeeping and associated data entry in an actual work environment is preferable.
