As 2025 draws to a close, we wanted to take a moment to pause, reflect, and say thank you. This time of year also invites reflection beyond business.
The tragic events at Bondi on Sunday were deeply confronting for all of us and served as a stark reminder of how fragile life can be. When something so sudden and senseless can change everything in a moment, it reinforces the importance of perspective, connection and appreciating what we have, both personally and professionally.
This year has been one of growth, learning and adaptation for O’Brien Palmer. It has also been a year of significant challenge across the business community.
Many directors, business owners and families have faced increased financial pressure, heightened regulatory enforcement and difficult decisions about the future. We have seen that first-hand.
One of the highlights of 2025 has been the opportunity to speak more openly and regularly with our community. Through our video updates and written insights, we have been able to share practical information, respond to real questions, and explain complex insolvency and restructuring issues in a way that is clear, grounded and human. The feedback we’ve received has been invaluable, and it has shaped the conversations we’ll continue into the year ahead.
Internally, this has been a defining year for our firm as well.
We have invested heavily in our people, our processes and our culture. Our team has grown stronger, more collaborative and more specialised. In response to changes across the insolvency landscape, we built and expanded our personal insolvency team, allowing us to better support individuals as well as businesses.
We’ve also delivered extensive training across the firm, ensuring our people are equipped not just with technical expertise, but with the empathy and judgement required in this work.
None of this happens without exceptional people. We are incredibly proud of the team at O’Brien Palmer and grateful for the care, professionalism and integrity they bring to their work every day.
Looking ahead, 2026 marks a major milestone for our firm. O’Brien Palmer will be celebrating 30 years in practice.
It’s a moment we don’t take lightly. Longevity in our profession comes from trust, consistency and outcomes, and we’re proud of the reputation built over three decades.
We also recognise that the economic environment remains challenging. With increased ATO enforcement, tighter finance conditions and ongoing cost pressures, many individuals and businesses are entering the new year under strain.
In response, we’ve expanded our networks across finance and advisory sectors, enabling us to explore informal workout arrangements alongside formal insolvency solutions. Our focus remains on early engagement, realistic advice and better outcomes.
As the year comes to a close, we want to thank our clients, referrers and professional partners for the trust you’ve placed in us. We look forward to continuing those conversations, supporting you through challenges, and working together toward stronger outcomes in 2026.
From all of us at O’Brien Palmer, we wish you a restorative break, time to reset, and a positive start to the year ahead. We look forward to reconnecting, refreshed, and ready for an abundant and happy new year!
